WE’RE SAY­ING GOOD­BYE FOR AN INDEF­I­NITE PERI­OD. WHAT’S GOING ON WITH US?

We man­aged to keep the court­yard open from the end of May until Decem­ber 21! A huge thank you to our incred­i­bly brave team, who endured the cold for our cause and han­dled even the tough­est days. Unfor­tu­nate­ly, con­tin­u­ing out­door oper­a­tions through the win­ter months is not sus­tain­able for us.

This year, we man­aged to do a lot and a lot of it went real­ly well. We moved our sum­mer cin­e­ma to a silent-head­phone for­mat, host­ed numer­ous events for chil­dren and par­ents, and right up to the last day we offered sus­tain­able Christ­mas trees and treats from Fousáč.

Through­out the year, we were in dia­logue with all our neigh­bours as well as with activist Miloš Závo­ra, who rep­re­sents Prague in noise-relat­ed mat­ters, dis­cussing their ideas about how our oper­a­tions should func­tion and what stan­dards they should meet. We man­aged to reach agree­ments and imple­ment mea­sures that allow for peace­ful coex­is­tence with our surroundings.

We obtained an addi­tion­al build­ing per­mit and hoped that from that point on we would be able to oper­ate in a stan­dard mode, allow­ing you to vis­it the café and cin­e­ma indoors.

It deeply sad­dens us that, despite all the nego­ti­a­tions and our efforts, a new appeal has once again land­ed at the build­ing author­i­ty, putting every­thing on hold. And giv­en that com­plaints now even con­cern noise from the sand­box, it is clear that it is impos­si­ble to please every­one, no mat­ter what we do.

As of today, we are enter­ing win­ter hiber­na­tion. We will reopen our gates with the first warm days and pos­si­bly soon­er, if the author­i­ties man­age to assess the appeal quick­ly. We will also try to allow access to the sand­box and climb­ing struc­tures at least for near­by schools.
